dog water bottle September 5, 2010 silent witness (northcentral usa) It arrived on time. The drinking bowl was cracked on the side. I used clear epoxy to seal crack. You can find these types of dog drink water bottles at the dollar store. Shop around on this item before purchase.
Works GREAT!!! July 17, 2010 Susan Spurlock (nevada) I think the people that are saying this is hard to use do not know how to use it. All you do is lift the bottle up and squeeze and the water goes into the tray, soooo easy and wonderful. We run 6 days a week and this is the only thing I can get my Belgian Sheepdog to drink from and she needs it in this desert heat. I am buying a second one just in case. I love love love it. She would never drink on our runs and I knew she was thirsty, first time I introduced her to this she immediately stops and looks at it when she is thirsty. 10 stars if I could
Great for car travel June 21, 2010 R. Owens (Northeast) We love this. I can give my dog a drink while riding in the car (I'm a passenger - hubby is driving!). Dispensing only a small amount at a time is terrific because you then don't have to worry about what to do with excess water. (You can unscrew the top and pour back in if necessary). I dispense only a few squirts at a time until my dog is satisfied. Ours came with a long carry "strap" - sort of a thin rope - that is very convenient.
Buy The Gulpy instead May 27, 2010 M. K. Callis (San Diego, CA USA) When I ordered the Handi Drink, I had recently purchased a Gulpy from a local store as a gift. It was a great success, and Sam, the recipient, loves it. When I decided to buy a Gulpy for my dog, the only one available on Amazon was $24 (it is now priced much, much lower) so I ordered the Handi Drink. It is not nearly as easy to use as the Gulpy. The Gulpy water bottle swings up and you squeeze the bottle to squirt the water into the water tray. The Handi Drink bottle is separate and must be removed from the water tray and then be placed into a notch in the water tray. Also, it is difficult to get the water out of the Handi Drink...I never did make it work well. I tossed the Handi Drink and went back to the store and bought a Gulpy!
This thing is not worth the money! Spills and Hard to use! April 6, 2010 L. Fantone 1. The bottle dispenses only a VERY small amount of water and a VERY slow rate. Even when you squeeze it with force nothing comes out!
2. In order to have the water dispense into the tray, you have to unlock the bottle, turn it upright and lock into place. Once the water container is in place it is useless (see comment 1)
3. When locked into place (not dispensing water) it is supposed to be leak proof. Not at all. It leaks. So when I put in it my backpack, everything was wet. I honestly believe that the thing dispenses more water when it's NOT supposed to than when it is supposed to.
4. You can't really set it down to have your dog drink out of it because it falls over. Wouldn't be a big deal if it actually dispensed water.
So, keeping all of these points in mind, what I did on my day at the park is the following:
I tied this thing to my bike's handle bars with the included rope (which is waaaaay to long...I had to wrap it around my bars about 10 times) so it wouldn't leak on me. Instead it kept hitting me in the knee as I rode along to the dog park. When my dog got thirsty, I then spent 5 minutes untying my knot. I grabbed the water bottle, took the top off and poured it into my dogs mouth. Messing with the tray is a joke. Honestly, once again, it doesn't work.
It's basically a water bottle. So get a safe plastic water bottle at someplace cheap like Walmart for $2 and just pour it down your dogs mouth....or if you want something that is "clever and useful" for a day with your dog, stay away from this thing.
