I was getting tired of always having to fill my dog's water bowl every couple of hours so instead of buying a bigger bowl I decided to get this--- what a great choice! Yes, it is pretty heavy with all the water (1.5 gallons!) but it is worth the money. The cap was also hard to screw on the first few times but it has gotten easier.
The only thing that bothers me is that the jug is hard to pick up if you want to change the water or clean the bowl. It takes a few shakes to get the jug free from the support. Other than that, I would recommend this to anyone who needs a bigger bowl of water and is tired of having to fill their puppy's bowl every hour or so.

Please do not purchase...JUNK....bought for a cat, our cats, and most cats want fresh water...this unit the water sits for days. The water is not fresh and our cat avoided this unit, would never drink from it. You can have mine for free, just pay for shipping!

This waterer works as described, but my cat doesn't like to drink out of it. Because the dish is very large and uncovered, the water gets dirty very quickly and even though new water is added regularly it immediately mixes with the dirty water. My cat is very picky and won't drink water that is more than a day or two old, so I just ended up wasting a lot of water by using this product. That being said, it might come in handy for someone with a less picky cat.

I had one of these waterer's years ago for my cat. It was an old model that was hard to clean and was more of a tower design like so many of the other models that not only take up a lot of room, but could easily be knocked over. (Not just by the pets as some of the other reviewers here have talked about, but by me). I decided to pick up a newer model after getting another cat, and wanting to make sure that they had plenty of fresh water. In my opinion, This Bergan design is the perfect watering system, especially for small dogs and cats. It holds about a gallon and half of water and its bottle design is set on a broader base rather than taking up room in height. Not only is it more of a space saving bottle shape, but it also makes for a wider mouth at the bottom that is very easy to get inside with a bottle brush or a smaller hand and keep clean. In fact the whole bottle and basin unit on this model is very compact and easily fits inside a sink or on top of a counter to clean. Although I realize that for those that own big dogs the capacity of this unit may be a little small, for small dogs and cats it is the perfect system for providing your pets with fresh water over an extended period of time. Lastly, this Bergen Petite is just about the cheapest watering system I have ever come across, either in stores or here on Amazon. At the time of this writing it ships for free when bundled, and is an excellent bargain. This waterer has a great efficient design, is easy to fill and clean, and is the cheapest you are going to get away with a watering system for your pet. I am thoroughly satisfied with it and highly recommend it...

I love this watering station. I put it against a wall in a shady spot on my apartment balcony and the dog has never tipped it over. He can easily access it through his dog door in the sliding door. After a few years outdoors my old bottle got a crack and I had to buy a new one, but that seemed reasonable. I wash the base and bottle once a week, fill it, and forget it. (I have one small dog.) Tip: To carry it through the house without spillage snap the base upside down on top of the bottle. Turn the unit over when you get to where you want to place it.
