5 out of 5 stars Works great for stubborn dogs   July 28, 2010

We bought this training collar for our very stubborn, strong-willed, disobedient terrier. What a difference it made! He would bark constantly and run off every chance he got. Now, he only barks once in awhile and rarely leaves our property. This collar has actually given him more freedom because he knows where his limits are. He absolutely hates the tone this gives off. Sometimes, you just have to find what works and go with it. This works!

Really works. A little bulky around his neck, but it really keeps him in check. Just placing it around his neck is sometimes all it takes.

First one they sent us was broken, they replaced it promptly. The replacement worked well until the first batteries wore down and then when I replaced the batteries it no longer worked. Tried different batteries just to make sure that wasnt the issue, still nothing

I bought this collar for my Morkie. I got her from a friend after he couldn't handle her. She is a smart dog, but she definitely has a mind of her own. In the two months since I got her, she has completely transformed my life into a long series of cleaning up shredded paper, poop, pee, and little bits of anything she could get her hands on. She has destroyed over $600 worth of my shoes, she has been known to go outside to go to the bathroom, only to come in and pee right in front of me at my feet, or down the back of the couch. She has been known to bark for more than 5 hours straight if locked in a kennel while I am away (I live in an apartment, the neighbors thankfully weren't mad, just impressed that she never quit!). Well, I have had this collar for exactly three hours. I put it on her and we started going through our normal morning routine. I started at shock level one, and shocked her when she jumped up on my legs, no effect. I tested every level until one finally worked. She is on an 8 to get a response, but she does respond. She is wearing a bow on her head for the first time, she went to the restroom outside, and she hasn't jumped up on me in over an hour. She did her usual run and hide under my bed where I can't get her to punish her, only to come running right back out to make the collar stop shocking her. I have never thought this kind of product was necessary, but compared to the alternative of having to give her away or take her to the pound, this was a miracle. She has a whole new attitude. Right now instead of tearing up my apartment or jumping all over my keyboard while I type, she is laying down next to me, peaceful for maybe the first time ever.

1 out of 5 stars Save money get a real one   June 21, 2010

I am going to be a little hard on this product because it has little practical use. With good batteries and my wife holding the collar in her hand, I could barley back up 100 feet and the beeping & shocking stopped! No where near the claimed 100 yards under optimum conditions. The reception range can be as little as 25 feet if your dog's butt is all you can see as he is running away laughing. Ask yourself this question. How far is your dog allowed to travel or roam before you would need to call your pet back? If your answer is you have a very small back yard and want to contain your pet to less than 100 feet, then this MIGHT work for you! But, how quickly can your pet exceed 100 feet and are you fast enough to close the distance required to get within range. Not seeing my new put getting run over on the road is why I bought this system. Because of it's limited real situation range I have yet to stop my pet. In fact in one situation my pet was on the other side of the highway and finally turned sideways when the shock signal got through. Then my pet freaked and ran back across the highway back to me and nearly got clipped. Spend the money and get a real one if your pet is important to you.
