There is no inhaling his food any more! Rodeo cleans up one chamber at a time as he eats his meals. It takes him longer, that has to be better for him. The large bowl is heavy enough, that he has not been tempted to carry it and/or chew on it. I'm glad I purchased this bowl!
Went from 18 seconds to 75 seconds June 19, 2010

Before I bought this bowl, I timed our 100 lb black lab. It took him 18 seconds to eat 1.5 cups of dry dog food (Innova Large Bites). Now, after 5 weeks of eating from this bowl, he is consistently in the 75 to 85 second range and finishes about the same time as our other black lab.
If this one disappeared, I would definitely buy another.

This bowl definitely slowed down my golden retriever puppy's eating from 30 seconds to a few minutes, and cut down on the farting, hiccuping and belching that went along with his food inhalation. The "skid stop" is a joke, though; my dog pushes this bowl all across the kitchen floor. Perhaps putting this bowl on a rubber mat would help?

This bowl didnt quite have the effect that I had hoped for. It does slow my dogs eating down slightly, but not as much as I hoped. She still ends up choking on food that she inhales rather then chews. It also seems small for a large bowl. It can't hold 3 cups of food without the food overflowing the indents.

It works for my BIG mix breed Rhodesian / Bull Mastiff / Pit (100+lbs) and my medium dog (45lbs).
The big dog would finish her meal in seconds, now it takes several minutes. She has to work for her food, but it IS healthier for her to eat slower.
The "brakes" can prevent the dog from getting to the food if their snout is wide or you get a bowl that is to small. Our dog has a big wide mouth and the Jumbo is OK, the large is good for the medium dog.....bigger is better.
Even though the bowl can slide across the floor, without the non skid bottoms the bowls would be all over.....the dogs have to work to get the food, and that's OK.
The item is well made. Color is blue in photo, we got white, which was better.
I which I knew about these years ago.
