Fabulous Product August 31, 2010 F. Karen Montgomery (Kansas City, MO) This automatic feeder has been awesome for me in the past 9 months I've owned it. It works great, is very reliable, and only took the cat about a week to adjust to the new trigger (the noise) for her meals. In the meantime, I've been getting a lot more sleep, and the cat is calmer and happier now that she knows she doesn't have to worry about getting fed.
I love the rotating feature, as it saved on my fears of other kinds of feeders that my cat would be able to paw out food early.
I should have bought this years ago. Five stars.
My cocker-pig developed an obsessive crush on this machine August 26, 2010 PATRICIA GRIFFIN My cocker spaniel, Babette, is adorable. She is also blind. When I leave for work she has her routine of eating and napping and then sunning herself on the deck. Moving to the sofa, etc. I used to hide treats for her, etc. Breakfast and Dinner were among the highlights of her day, along with wake up and bedtime snuggles. Well, all that changed when I got this machine. She loved it! She stayed by it all day! I set it for 5 times a day with little treats, healthy leftovers, etc. I would find that she had literally dragged it around the house to be near her! Napping by it! She tried to get it open but to no avail. She learned the noise of the engine [the changing of the guard (dish)] and laid at the foot of the bed (forget about me!) listening all night for it. (I had gotten so that I set it for early in the morning so she would eat before I got up so I could walk her before I went to work...mistake!). I accidentally killed the machine by getting the machine part wet when it got overcome by ants...long story...it got moved outside when I brought it to a vacation cabin. Anyway, I need to get another one...nothing else will do. The bowl part is easily tossed into the dishwasher, so now I have two of the 5 compartment bowls (one from the old one and one will come with the new one) so I am not so sorry. If yours makes a loud-ish engine sound, you could probably add some of that spray oil or maybe throw a towel over it at night, or not set it to feed at night (it only makes the sound when it turns the bowl, and usually you would not be there). I have odd hours and needed to keep her on a routine, so I heard the noise because I have a small apartment...but it really wasn't a problem.
Bought for Rabbit, does not work! August 25, 2010 Koala MD 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Foremost, my rabbit is CRAZY!!! She wakes me up at 5am for her morning pellets (she's a free roaming rabbit btw). I have become so tired and sleepy in the mornings because of this so I decided to get the 2-meal petfeeder to feed her in the mornings. However it did NOT work at all! First of all, when she smelled the pellets, she went crazy and started flipping the entire thing over and was nudging it all night (which kept me awake). The sound of rabbit claws digging on the plastic petfeeder was not how I wanted her to react to it. The lid on the petfeeder was loosely attached to the timer knob so food actually fell out when she was attacking it. That being said, I don't understand why anyone would want to make a petfeeder because animals have such keen sense of smell (and are very smart), if they know food is inside a compartment, they will beat the crap out of it till they get to it. If a tiny 4lb rabbit can destroy the petfeeder, I am sure dogs and cats would too. Again, Not recommended!
Either it works or it is junk August 15, 2010 P. Mullins (Charleston, WV United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
SAfter returning three of these 5 day feeders for being defective, i thought that maybe i was doing something wrond.
The tray would only turn one half way round, leaving a half tray emply and a haf tray of dry dog food.
I returned it and ordered another and another.......finally i looked them up at pet smart, since they will not let you leave
the store with a defective product.
The manager got one off the shelf, i put in my NEW batteries and he said "here is how it works..i am familiar with this and the two day feeder.
After opening four other boxes, he was very perplexed as to why the trays would only turn half way.
He was getting a little red in the face, then said "just a minute, i'm calling the company" and he did.
After a good wait, we finally got a tech on the line and all he ask for was the date code on the box, then he said return it to them and they would replace it for the customer with one with a 2010 model (all in the stores now are 2009 models) The 2010 model has the hex motor dribe under the five tray feeder made a little different. So it will sit further down on the shaft and engage the little white sendinf unit that tells the machine that it is ready to go.
So basically ther e is no recall, but if you call the comapny they will send an updated version that really works, and something that works like this one is very nice to have.
SO WHY AMAZON DON'T YOU RETURN THE 2009 MODELS AND GET WITH THE COMPANY AND INSIST THAT YOU ARE NOT GOING TO SELL THE OLD MODELS, JUST SO THEY CAN GET RIS OF THEM AND FIXED LATER.????
Problem with glue on instructions label August 8, 2010 txtiger (Houston, TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I noticed when I received the 5-meal feeder that a couple of edges on the instructions label (large label that takes up most of the underside of the lid) were peeling up. I pushed the edges back down, set up the timer, and it worked like a charm ... at first. After a couple of feedings, I came in and saw that the hopper had only partially turned, but enough to give my dog access to the food. I happened to be home during the next feeding time, and went to take a look as it turned. It only made it about halfway, then got stuck and made a cranking noise as it kept attempting to turn. I opened the lid and saw that the label had come unpeeled and curled, sticking to the hopper as it tried to run. I just peeled off the entire label and taped it inside the cabinet door for next time I need it. I'm not sure if they're using a defective glue or if the summer heat during shipping was just too much for it. It's working fine now, but I would have been EXTREMELY upset if this happened during the overnight trip we bought the feeder for.
