I own a stubborn basset hound who has insisted on getting on the couch regardless of what we tell him. I bought the scat mat and placed it on the couch. He tested it the first night and hasn't gone near it since. The scat mat is the first product I have bought for him that truly works.

This product is amazing. It keeps my dog off my wall where he has clawed the wall board down. I usually only put it out by the wall when I leave and I know it is going to rain. He is terrified of the rain and thunder. It works, however he is a smart cookie. When he can't stand anymore he takes the corner of the mat and slings it so he can get to the wall. He's trying to dig his way in.
He doesn't like the mat and on normal days he will stay away from it. I love it.

I bought the 3" by 46" to try to keep my Golden from jumping up on the counter to try to get food. I set it to the "Tone + Stimulation" setting. The first time she put her paws on it, it didn't tone...and I assume it didn't Stimulate either because she kept her paws up on the counter for a good 10 seconds. I guess her paws did not span the two wires that give the shock, even though the wires are only 1 1/8" apart. I know the unit was working because I tested it after she got off, and I got a nice surprise. I tempted her a few more times with some scraps of food, and it only zapped her once in about 7 times in contact with the mat. My dog is not dope...she'll take those odds. I sent mine back for a refund.

We recently moved into a newly renovated house and wanted to contain our dogs to the family room to avoid scratching of our new wood floors. This product is amazing. After one step, neither dog will go anywhere near it. Finally I can leave things on the kitchen counter without fear of the dogs getting it and I can open the front door without them trying to run out. I have been shocked by it a couple of times and it is not inhumane. It is a tingle at best, and the good news is that both dogs only had to touch it once to get the idea. Well worth the money, even though I paid $119 for it a Petsmart. Wish I would have seen it here first!!
